Lo Svevo - Birra E Cucina

Very nice. We stopped here for dinner after a long day trip. Had starter and two mains, mine was the traditional bari pasta and it was so nice. I'm not a beer drinker, but tasted (of course) my husbands home brew beer, refreshing and light. We didn't have a reservation, but tuned up early and was lucky enough to get a table.

Arrived in Bari on the ferry. Finding my hostel n checking in turned out to be the most challenging thing in 4 weeks of travel from Athens through Albania, Montenegro and Croatia. It was shitty to be honest. By the time I found this place, it was simply a case of does it offer a cold beer n a dinner under 20 euros. Lo Svevo turned out to be the reward Bari had saved for me, a balm to a very rough welcome. I thought my dinner of the Apulian sausages with potatoes n salad worthy of mention n so was the house red. To understand my high rating of the atmosphere, u just have to come here. Sorry, I just can't describe it. Finally, DONOT leave here until u try their cheese cake in a jar. Unbelievable!!!

A real hidden gem in the old town. Food was outstanding, even if the selection is not big, everything we tried was delicious. Portions were not too big, just enough, but the price is also really low. The beer is brewed in house and it is really amazing.

Great food – the reviews didn’t lie! The beer was excellent, the food even better. We had to wait a bit, but it was worth it. The staff was really accommodating – they let us switch tables when a group of six women kept chain-smoking right next to us. Big thanks for that. Overall, great service, fair prices, and we left happy.

Beautiful setting, especially if you dine outside. The owner/brewer is an excellent host. I tried the Porter and was delighted. Beautiful light brown, brilliant beer. Thick cakey head that laces nicely. Faint aroma of sweet brown bread. Flavor is rich molasses with a delicately bitter, but smooth finish. Hop bitterness is moderate to pronounced, and offers appropriate balance to the malt balance of the beer. Modest carbonation cleanses the palate and refreshes the drinker for another sip.

Great hidden gem. They make their own beer (good). The place was not busy so perfect for my family of 7 to get a table. Nice cozy inside. Music not too loud. Great food. Small menu but tasty. Pleasant friendly service in english. Reasonable prices.
